I purchased a FURminator deShedding Tool after reading many reviews. The cat actually loved the attention and being stroked by the tool. An unbelievable amount of hair was easily removed. Also, I found the FURejector to work well in that it only required one hand, allowing my other hand free to hold the cat.
Although, we didn't see as much benefit with our (short-haired) dog, I would recommend this product to anyone with a dog or cat.

We have two smooth coated collies, one of which does not usually like to be combed, but she does quite well with this product, and it does remove more hair than any other brush or comb we have tried.

This is the second product like this I have owned. The other one, Fur Buster, broke within 2 weeks of use. The Furminator is manufactured much better. The blade is stronger and much more durable. This tool is amazing. I have a yellow lab that sheds like crazy. We use this tool every other day on him. Keeps the house much cleaner.

A friend at work showed me the Furminator that she had recently purchased. Out of curiosity, I ordered one through Amazon (with the added feature of the ejector button). I am amazed! We have 6 dogs, two of which are long-haired LARGE dogs. You wouldn't believe how much hair comes off these dogs with just one swipe. They love having it done as well. I would recommend the model with the fur ejector button because it makes it so much easier to use. I plan to purchase a few more!

After years of resisting paying an outrageous amount for a Furminator, I finally relented and found the best price on Amazon, as usual. One cat of ours sheds so much year-round that I had to do something. I'm very happy with the Furminator and both cats seem to like it. It sure does remove the fur! I haven't noticed any "cutting" of the hair, just a sleeker coat with much less loose fur flying around. The ejector works fine in that you don't have to pull the fur out of the comb, not a huge deal if you wanted to pay a little less without it.
